July 22, 2024

This week has  gone by pretty fast and not much has really happened that was  too crazy but let's get into ittt.

Monday: Hiked the Hollywood sign and it's a lot less anti-climatic then I thought it would be. I did see some things that are in GTA tho!

Tuesday: I got my Sam's Club card and I understand why shopping takes so long. Looking through all the sections of different foods just brought me so much joy. We also made a super awesome friend who's been struggling recently AND he came to church and loved it.

Wednesday: Slow and tough day but just gotta look at the next step ahead of you each day.

Thursday: Boring day and not much happened. Made a new friend but he doesn't want us to keep giving him lessons but he wants to go to church so 🤷‍♂️

Friday: BUMMY day, two of our baptisms scheduled for next week want to push them back to August so that stinks considering the ward is probably getting white washed. I did give my first blessing today (in English) of comfort. I didn't know the man at all but I just listened to what I thought of and said it. We also ate at a pretty 💣 Ramen spot called tampopo Ramen.

Saturday: BEST DAY. Had fire lessons. At Alondra park there was a huge islander festival. Tons of Tongan and Samoans where there. We had to go to a lesson we had scheduled in the park with the friend from Monday and before hand we had two different members come tell us to go get food after. When we went to get food we left our bikes against the fence and went in with all these members. One of the workers for the festival started to yell at us that we couldn't park our bikes there, and every single member stepped up and like surrounded us and took care of everything which was pretty sick and awesome to see. The food was also amazing.

Sunday: I felt pretty homesick today and kept thinking of all the time I had left but again gotta just look at the now and take it step by step. I REALLY WANT TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE AUTHENTIC HORCHATA. It doesn't even compare to the horchata from home.

Spiritual thought:
1 Nephi 1:20
20 And when the Jews heard these things they were angry with him; yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.
During to week I would like to invite everyone to look for the tender mercies and recognize the little blessings we are given throughout the week and if you would like share some of them with me.

That's all for this week,

Elder Lawrence
